FBCS was awarded the project by way of competitive tender.
The project entailed the construction of a reinforced concrete basement car park and ground floor slab to a 12 unit apartment block.
The works commenced with the construction of a reinforced concrete guide wall for the 165m perimeter secant piled wall. FBCS provided the pile attendance for these works along with the internal contiguous piles.
A reinforced concrete capping beam was then constructed to the top of the secant piled wall. Bulk excavation (4750m3) followed thereafter in phases due to the access constraints within the site.
Internal basement drainage was then installed in advance of the basement pile caps and ground beams. A Sika waterproofed concrete reinforced basement slab then followed incorporating a Sika waterproof membrane. The secant pile wall was then cased with single sided formwork to the Sika concrete reinforced walls and associated Sika mambrane.
A 500mm thk suspended reinforced concrete ground floor slab was then constructed to complete contractual obligations of our first visit.
Due to the access and site logistical constraints, all lifting operations had to be carried out by our 25T excavator and Merlo Roto-Handler. This challenge was overcome by effective site management, planning and organisation.
FBCS acted as Principal Contractor for the Construction Phase up to handover to Shanly Homes after completion of the ground floor slab.
The project will be complete mid 2016 when FBCS return to complete the external drainage, services and finishing works.
